Five Nights at Freddy's

Post by Recursive Sweatpants on Sun Aug 24, 2014 7:07 pm

If the hype hasn't gotten to you already, Five Nights at Freddy's is definitely worth talking about. The game is a survival horror that forces you to make yourself vulnerable for as long as possible in order to survive the night, and it is one of the scariest games I've ever seen. Almost everything about it is truly horrific...

...except for the fanbase. If you ever want to diminish the horror of the game down to almost parody levels, look no further than the massive amount of fanart (and hilarious Rule 34)  the game has already. For a game with so few characters and so little backstory for most of them, there is so much rampant shipping and so many wild theories and interpretations of their personalities and relationships to one another that you'd think the game was a dating sim rather than a survival horror.

I personally am a fan of the fans; I love all the weird things people do with the characters and all of their quirks, as well as the game itself and what it shows you can do with simple mechanics and a great atmosphere. What are your thoughts on it?

I've never played before, since I don't think I have the guts for it, but that might change in the future. I watched Markiplier played it once, and damn, it was horrifying.

To be frank, I have a crush on Foxy, and this one comic I found while scrolling through Tumblr.

bonnie too

i'm furry trash

but anyways i'm currently super obsessed with this game, i think its super creative and really scary. singing animatronics have always creeped me out a bit, so obviously i'm going to love a game like this. i've played up to night 3, but i've kept chickening out on night 4 because i'm really scared of freddy.. ono

i love the fanbase so much, most people in it are really nice and there's so much cute and funny content in it. there's really creepy well done works in the fandom as well, having it be a horror game and all. markiplier's playthrough of the game are especially funny!!

also, the creator scott is working on a sequel!! he's posted some teaser images, and i'm super excited for it!!!! i'll put them in a spoiler below.

Spoiler:

AAAAAAAAAAAA IT ALL LOOKS SO GOOD I CANT WAIT

do you guys have any thoughts on the teasers??

anyway i've blabbed enough about this game for now have a funny gif i found

While I've never played it, I'm pretty sure Five Nights At Freddy's is the new Slender in terms of popularity.

So some beautiful soul recreated each of the animatronics model from scratch to use in Garry's Mod, and it turns out that they work pretty well in Source Filmmaker as well! So I made these with them:

Wait, these guys are from a horror game?

I'm officially a Five Nights At Freddy's fan now. The lore was enough to pull me in.

Also, check out this hilarious Gmod video:

I don't get why people keep saying that's Golden Freddy. He looks brown to me, and he has eyes.

The color of that animatronic seems like a faded gold, so hence the assumption. It doesn't mean that it's definitely going to be him, though. It seems to be an old, updated animatronic. The suit texture, realistic eyes and sharp teeth are quite intriguing.

someone brightened the picture and it seems pretty golden to me. but you never know, scott loves to screw with us.

also, see the 3 in the corner?? obviously the means one thing guys...

half life 3 confirmed. (wait what-)

on another note, if you look closely at the eyes you can see veins. theres also blood around the eyes and on the teeth. could a human be stuffed into the animatronic?? i read a theory that it could be phone guy after he got killed in the first game, hence the quote "i am still here." i really like that idea.

It's a Golden Freddy suit. Like the one worn by the killer. So either the phone guy, the killer, or both.

So...Golden Bonnie, or a new animatronic entirely?

The taglines "He will come back. He always does." do raise a lot of questions, though.

It seems that things are going to be a bit different this time around! It looks like Scott really upped his game with the graphics on this one.

The story--from what the Steam Greenlight page says--seems pretty refreshing also! Instead of working at the actual restaurant again, you're now in a horror attraction based on urban legends about the events of the first two games.

Someone over on the Greenlight page also had a really interesting idea of what the gameplay would be like; instead of Golden Bonnie killing you if he gets into your room, he instead takes something from the box of animatronic parts and leaves. If he does it enough, he'll end up building a second animatronic that will kill you, or something to that effect. The goal of each night would be to somehow slow GB down enough to prevent that from happening.

Clearly it's talking about the most important character in the series:

I knew that fan was up to no good. It's the puppeteer, I tell ya!

I've heard some theories that the purple man could be a part of FNaF3.

Alternatively, all of the animatronics see the night guards as one person: the purple man.

That's what I've always thought, Leachy. They can tell adults apart from children, but they're so damaged/haunted that they cannot distinguish adults from the purple man, so their acts of hostility are in the name of trying to save the children from him.

Yeah. While I do think the games are good, I'm intrigued by its lore a hell of a lot more. I'd say Five Nights At Freddy's is currently the Frozen of videogames.
